On the first weekend in November, Darlington transforms.
The Darlington Arts Festival brings some 15,000 visitors to Darlington for a vibrant weekend of nature, art and community. Our much-loved community festival has helped celebrate and nurture artists, artisans, and performers for decades, creating special memories for generations of locals.
The festival features art and sculpture exhibitions, performances and workshops. Visitors enjoy browsing the DAF Art Shop and over 100 stalls selling local art, crafts, and produce. Take a break or meet up with friends at the festival’s social hub, the DAF Bar.
Volunteers
The Darlington Arts Festival brings together over 150 local volunteers to work together on the planning and running of the festival. It is an opportunity to learn new skills, meet new friends and participate in a lively community event.
A Bringing Together of Community
DAF has invited and hosted refugees through the Edmund Rice Centre for many years. DAF has more recently worked with First Nations elders to incorporate a Welcome to Country every year. DAF encourages First Nations artists to apply for exhibitions, and workshop and curatorial positions.
Environmentally Friendly
DAF has completed a transition to sustainable service delivery for all stall holders over the last five years. DAF ensures containers are collected for Containers for Change, and proceeds are often donated to a smaller local community group. We provide a filtered water station and encourage festival-goers to bring their water bottle and keep-cup. We aim to achieve maximum recycling and green waste recovery from our event.
